The collar…it is a staple of any play bag. A
beautiful piece of leather to adorn a neck. Often it symbolizes the
status of the person wearing it, or simply a kinky piece to a fetish costume.
For others like Master and i, it is much more.
For couples like us, it is as sacred, if not more, than
a wedding ring. It is a symbol of our devotion and status to each other. It has
signified a change in our lives. A change that took years to develop and
patience to cultivate.
It symbolized my transformation to His owned slave.
Until then i had the right to negotiate a scene, to tell Him "no" and
to make end decisions for myself. The day Master placed the collar around my
neck i gave up all rights, save one. The right to leave the relationship. In all
words, i gave up my freedom to a man i trust with my very life.
The collar i wear in pictures was made by Master's
hand. He carved the initials and bound the leather Himself with the guidance of
close friends. We had a collaring ceremony with vows of slavery from me and
Master's promises for guidance and safety. It was a day that would rival any
wedding. It was more binding than a marriage license could ever be.
Go into any chat room on the net and you'll find
"collared slaves" everywhere. But, ask them if they've even met their
"masters" and the answer 99% of the time will be "no". This,
is one of my biggest complaints. The collar is not something to be traded and
handed around as readily as someone changes their underwear.
The collar has it's place in every BDSM relationship.
i've worn others besides the one i wear as a slave now. But, to me it is beyond
comprehension why so many have cheapened the symbol of something so
precious to others in the very community they all claim to be part of.
